technology support: hardware in the lab
Hardware:
A PC facility, comprised of 40 systems, with a high reliability private wired network. A researcher is free to ask for a setup of any number of stations from 1 <= N <= 32.
HP/Compaq Evo N620c laptops, with a single 1.4GHz Pentium 4 processor, 512MB of RAM, 14-inch TFT monitor, optical mouse, and Windows XP Pro. Xlab now employs AC power when possible, otherwise 5 hours of battery life/day is available.
A master laptop configured as a server, running either Windows 32 bit Operating Systems or a Linux x86 build (You may need to provide binaries for OS's other than Windows XP or Windows 2003. Free Linux Operating Systems can be installed provided their license allows for such usage).
Space:
The Xlab is located in F310/F318 Haas Business School. The space consists of two rooms with a movable wall between them; the space may be used as two separate rooms or a single large room.
The room capacity seats 40 people.
