grants for researchers:
Xlab Grants make financial support available to graduate students engaged in dissertation research and to post-doc and junior faculty who are interested in conducting experiments as part of their research program.
Xlab grants up to $2,000 available for subject payments. Decisions on the grants are made by the Director of the Xlab. There is a limit of one per project, per year.
The grant is awarded in two phases, and following are procedures for submitting your application.
First, access and complete the application form <HERE>. Then follow instructions for Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the application process.
Phase 1: $1,000 initial grant
Provide a five page report covering the:
1.) Purpose and background of the study
2.) Related literature
3.) Experimental design and procedures
4.) Research question(s)
5.) Proposed analysis
6.) References
For graduate students, have your advisor write a brief (1 page or less) letter of support, indicating whether s/he supports your request as essential and whether s/he feels you have adequately explored other possible funding sources.
Items 1 and 2 should be sent BY YOUR ADVISOR, along with the signed application, to:

Phase 2: $1000 follow-up grant
Provide a summary report of the findings of the initial experiment. Summary report should include:
1.) A description of the experiment
2.) Experimental design
3.) The statistical data analysis, including number of participants/sessions
4.) Preliminary data results from the Xlab experiments
5.) The report should be approximately 1-1 ½ pages long
6.) The summary report may be posted on the Xlab website
